Dr. Olga Barbosa is and Ecosystems Ecologist researching on the performance of ecosystem functioning in highly modified landscapes such as farmlands and cities. As a member of the RCN, she is interested on developing standard methods to measure the effects of urban morphology and ecosystems services provision along cities with different degrees of urbanization, socioeconomic realities, and biophysical diversity. Dr. Barbosa takes a particular interest in comparing how some cities are developing biodiversity “hot spots” while others that have lost biodiversity are seeking ways to restore their natural assets. She has worked in contrasting cities such as Sheffield in UK and Valdivia, Temuco and Osorno, in Chile.
Dr. Barbosa co-leads the Sustainability Indicators group, and is a participant in the Conceptual Models working group.
